Currently, the focus is on cooling the areas around dozer groups and heavy machinery, and on knocking out emerging hotspots, particularly in the vicinity of fire breaks.
It is essential to monitor the evolution of conditions throughout the day, considering that fire activity has intensified in the late afternoons over the past few days. Securing critical areas today would be highly advantageous, as tomorrow's weather may favor fire propagation.

The Lake George wildfire remains undisciplined. Crews worked assiduously yesterday to restrain the fire's expansion to an estimated 285 hectares, in spite of difficult dry and windy conditions. Fortunately, no structural damage has been reported.
Current resources include 35 DNR, 39 BC and 31 local firefighters, 2 Newfoundland and 4 NWT planes, 1 DNR and 5 contracted helicopters, and 18 pieces of heavy equipment.

The Red Cross has established a 24/7 Reception Centre/Emergency Shelter at Louis Millett Centre in New Minas, and impacted residents are urged to register at the Centre or phone 1-800-863-6582.
